Involving patients and the public
Strong public involvement is an important foundation of NIHR Southampton BRC. We work together with patients and the public to drive research that is ever-more relevant to people’s needs, delivered faster and adopted more readily.
We always involve patients in the development of our research. Our Community Panel of over 300 people includes adult (aged over 16) and junior (aged 8 and above) members that reflect the diverse communities of our region.
We work with these partners to build engagement and prioritise the views of under-served groups. We share regular opportunities so that members with relevant lived experience can come forward. Our regular coffee mornings showcase our research and promote opportunities to participate.
You can register your interest in joining our community panel by completing our subscription form (if aged over 16) http://eepurl.com/dGkgh9, or emailing publicinvolvement@uhs.nhs.uk.
We are part of the Wessex Public Involvement Network (Wessex PIN), a network of staff and public members working together to improve how the public are involved in research.
Together, our activities contribute to an outward-looking, equitable and nurturing research culture. We strive to improve this culture continuously.
Our Patient and Public Involvement (PPI) team provides free support and advice for staff looking to involve patients and the public in their research. Find out more.
