The NIHR Biomedical Research Centre: Southampton develops and tests new approaches to preventing, diagnosing and treating disease, and improving surgical care and recovery.

Our vision is to help people live healthier lives for longer through research that improves prevention, earlier diagnosis, personalised care and recovery from illness.

 

Working with patients, communities, NHS organisations and research partners across the South Coast, we translate scientific discoveries into practical solutions that improve health and healthcare.

 

Our experimental medicine research focuses on some of the biggest challenges facing society, including infection, respiratory disease, musculoskeletal and metabolic health, critical illness, and the responsible use of data and AI in healthcare.

 

We are a partnership between the University of Southampton and University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust, funded by the National Institute for Health and Care Research.
