WHP/WEMN Small Grants Scheme
The NIHR Wessex Experimental Medicine Network (WEMN) brings together partners from across Wessex to collaboratively develop and deliver experimental medicine aligned with the activities of the NIHR Southampton Biomedical Research Centre (BRC) and of relevance to the patients and public we serve.
Partnership working is critical to its success and the network is supported by both the BRC and Wessex Health Partners (WHP).
Our annual scheme awards small grants to collaborative projects across the region.
Projects which align with our NIHR Southampton BRC research themes are particularly welcomed, but projects outside of these theme areas will also be considered.

Now open
Round 3 opens July 1 and closes October 30 2025.
All applications must be led by one of the Wessex Health Partners founding partners and demonstrate pan-Wessex collaboration with one or more of these partners. The scheme is intended as seed funding to support projects that lead to further external funding or other defined impact.
It is expected most awards will be for less than £5,000. Awards of more than £5,000 may be granted with a guide to the upper limit for a single award being £20,000. The larger the award the more compelling the justification will need to be.
