We are investigating how we can prevent and control infectious disease, using vaccines and other ways to induce immunity, as well as innovative systems for infection prevention and control.

Health needs we are tackling

How can we prevent and control infectious disease?

  • Informing vaccination decisions: we are creating recommendations based on our early phase clinical trial evidence to inform decisions on national and international vaccination programmes.

  • Developing and improving ways to induce immunity: we are conducting studies to help improve vaccination and develop other methods of inducing immunity for infectious diseases such as COVID-19, whooping cough, meningitis, tuberculosis, hepatitis C and HIV.

  • Materials to prevent infection: we are testing how advanced materials, such as metals, could be used to prevent healthcare associated infection.
