Josune is a research scientist who joined our BRC in 2019, bringing clinical research experience of more than 15 years from the higher education sector. 

She completed her PhD investigating polymorphisms associated with the Metabolic Syndrome in children with obesity in 2011 at the University of Granada in Spain. During her academic years, her research was focused on different aspects of Nutrition Science, including metabolic syndrome, childhood obesity, adipose tissue, diet quality and adequacy and clinical evaluation of enteral nutrition products.

Josune works closely with investigators, clinical-research teams and R&D departments at University Hospital Southampton NHS TF and the University of Southampton to ensure the running and successful delivery of the BRC research studies. She participates in the coordination of the day-to-day activities of the BRC and the reporting and evaluation of operational metrics.
