Dr Jacqui Prieto has a joint appointment as Associate Clinical Professor at the University of Southampton and University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust.
Her academic and clinical work focuses on implementing evidence-informed infection prevention practice to reduce avoidable healthcare-associated infections. She has a particular interest in reducing catheter-associated urinary tract infection. Jacqui is an alumna of the NIHR 70@70 Senior Nurse and Midwife Research Leaders Programme (2019-22) and continues to provide leadership to strengthen the nursing and midwifery contribution to research in NHS organisations.

Hospital-wide decrease in the inappropriate use of urinary catheters.
Introduction of the hospital-wide use of portable bladder ultrasound scanners, yielding substantial benefits for patients and cost savings in excess of £130k per annum, as evaluated by a comprehensive economic assessment.
