Do you want to drive research that will transform health and quality-of-life?

We are seeking to recruit outstanding candidates for four-year funded PhD studentships starting in October 2022.

 

The NIHR Southampton Biomedical Research Centre (BRC) takes new discoveries, treatments and technologies into the clinic, using unique tools, facilities and world-changing expertise across our five key research areas.

We improve people's health and resilience throughout life, generating the next generation of improved and individually personalised treatments.

We are a partnership between the University of Southampton and University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust, funded by the National Institute for Health and Care Research.

Projects

Uncovering the drivers of Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease progression using patient derived organoids

Assessing the development of mother-offspring multi’omic “handprints” that predict child phenotypes

Integrating genomic data for patient benefit: Development of novel approaches to integrate medical genomic data with extensive electronic healthcare data to improve diagnoses and precision treatments

Improving understanding of surgical risk: CIPHER (Continuous, Iterative, Perioperative, Holistic Evaluation of Risk)

Applicants must hold a 1st class or 2:1 degree in a relevant discipline and/or second degree with a related Masters.

Only UK students are eligible to apply in this current round.

Stipend may vary according to the Studentship source and in most cases will be at least equivalent to UK Research Council maintenance stipend rates (~£16,000). Self-funding students may also be accepted.
